Authorities in Arizona are investigating a deadly plane crash in Marana. The crash happened at the Marana Regional Airport, which is about 20 miles from Tucson.
Marana Police say they are on the scene. They first reported that at least one person had died, but later confirmed that two people lost their lives in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing, and more details will be shared as they become available.
“Details are limited at this time,” the department said in a Facebook post.
Nexstar is working to gather more information, but neither the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) nor the Marana Regional Airport have responded yet to requests for comment.
Social media images from the scene show smoke rising from the crash site.
Recently, a series of plane accidents have occurred following President Trump’s decision to fire hundreds of FAA employees. However, it is still too early to say if these accidents are linked to those firings. Authorities continue to investigate.
