Tensions exploded at Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s town hall in Dallas Thursday night after right-wing commentator Sara Gonzales launched a verbal attack during an emotional moment.

Crockett, a Democrat representing Texas, was sharing a personal story about her grandmother — someone she called “one of my favorite people in the entire world” — when Gonzales began shouting from the audience.

“The people of Dallas deserve better than a fake ghetto hoodrat!” Gonzales yelled.

The crowd was visibly shaken. Video posted by Gonzales herself shows Crockett trying to keep the audience calm, but Gonzales kept going. “Do they know you’re a rich kid from Missouri?” she shouted. She then added, “spoiled,” continuing to heckle the congresswoman.

The confrontation escalated quickly. Several attendees confronted Gonzales before security stepped in and escorted her out. As she was removed, she continued to shout obscenities. Police were heard warning her to leave or face arrest.

Another video, shared by Dallas Weekly on Instagram, shows Crockett responding with restraint and clarity.

“This is part of the problem. I want y’all to be part of the solution,” Crockett told the crowd. “We are going to show these people that ignorance will not win today.”
