An off-duty cop shot a black woman in Texas after she made a U-Turn on her way to the hospital, local TV station KWTX reported Tuesday.
The woman, Lecresha Murray, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. She said that an argument led up to the shooting.
“I did a U-turn in the middle of the street because I was going to go to the hospital,” Murray said, adding that she turned around because “she started feeling sick and wanted to go to the hospital.”
According to Murray, she and the man took turns racing past each other before she finally stopped to confront him. As the two argued, she says the off-duty officer pulled out a gun.
“When I turned around to run back to my truck and get out of there, I just heard pop pop pop pop and all I could do was bend over and duck,” she said, adding that the man didn’t identify himself as an officer before he started shooting.
After police arrived on the scene, it was discovered that the shooter was an off-duty officer.
