Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) walked off an interview with ABC News after host Jonathan Karl asked about Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
During the conversation, Karl asked if Ocasio-Cortez might have a future in the U.S. Senate, specifically if Sanders would like to see her join him in the Senate.
Sanders responded, “I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan, thanks,” before standing up to leave.
Karl tried to ask one more question, saying, “Wait, I got one more — I got one more. This is an important…”
But Sanders interrupted, saying, “No, you want to do nonsense. Do nonsense. I don’t want to talk about inside the beltway stuff.”
Karl explained he was asking about Ocasio-Cortez because she had been seen with Sanders recently, but Sanders refused to discuss it further.
“I don’t want to talk about this,” Sanders said, before agreeing to answer one last question about his own political future.
“I’m Vermont’s senator. That’s what I do. And I’m very happy to do it. I am 83 years of age. So — and I’m tired,” Sanders concluded.
