As Trump Pushes Reopening, US Coronavirus Deaths Reach Record 4,591 In Just 24 Hours



On Thursday, the US coronavirus deaths hit a record one-day total of 4,591, according to data from Johns Hopkins University published by The Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US surged past 671,000, with more than 33,000 deaths, according to the WSJ.

The news comes as President Donald Trump pushes for a reopening of the US economy by lifting the stay-at-home orders and other restrictions in states nationwide intended to stop the spread of the virus.

On Thursday, the president unveiled guidance for a phased reopening of parts of the country, leaving the final decisions to governors across the U.S.
