An Arizona man has been arrested following a series of violent incidents targeting a Democratic National Committee (DNC) office in Tempe. Jeffrey Michael Kelly, a 60-year-old self-identified Trump supporter, faces multiple charges, including unlawful discharge of a firearm, shooting at a non-residential structure, and committing an act of terrorism.
Kelly was apprehended by Tempe Police on Tuesday night and is charged with six felony counts and three misdemeanor counts related to the incidents, which have raised alarm in the community.
Authorities reported that the DNC office, which also houses the Kamala Harris campaign and various Arizona Democratic Party initiatives, has been the target of three shootings over the past month. The first shooting occurred on September 16, followed by another on September 23, and the most recent incident on October 6, during which the building sustained damage from both BB gun pellets and firearm rounds. All incidents took place between midnight and 1 a.m.
In addition to the shootings, Kelly is accused of posting homemade political signs containing suspicious bags of white powder, which were lined with razor blades, in Ahwatukee, a suburb southeast of Phoenix, as reported by ABC15. Authorities said they are investigating the full extent of his actions as they work to ensure community safety.
