Arizona Man Facing 5 Years In Prison After Being Convicted Of Threatening To Kill Pelosi

A man from Arizona who threatened to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was convicted in federal court and now faces up to five years in prison, NBC News reports.

Steven Arthur Martis, 77, of Bullhead City, was convicted of communicating an interstate threat” after calling Pelosi’s office and leaving a voicemail saying “I’m coming to kill you.” In another message, he told the Speaker “you’re dead,” according to a criminal complaint.

Martis left the voicemails with Pelosi’s office on Jan. 17, federal authorities said.

The pair of calls to Pelosi came after the FBI had warned Martis about similar previous calls, according to the US Attorney’s Office of Arizona.

Sentencing is set for January. The maximum sentence on the count is five years in prison, according to the report.
