New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced on Twitter that she received more than a million dollars in donations to help the people of Texas after suffering an unprecedented winter storm in the state.
Meanwhile, Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz was being defended by right-wing figures who believed he couldn’t do a thing for his constituents and so it was okay for him to flee to Cancun.
Cruz received backlash for leaving the state to go on vacation as millions of Texans suffered without power, water, and food.
After receiving backlash, Cruz blamed his daughters by saying they pushed him to take them to Cancun.
While the Texas Senator was doing all this, the Congresswoman from New York City went to work for his constituents, because someone had to.
Wow.
We officially raised $1 million for Texas relief at 9:17pm.
Thank you all so much. 🙏🏽 I’m at a loss for words. Always in awe of movement work.
💯% of this relief is going straight to Texan food assistance, homelessness relief, elder care, and more. https://t.co/DSkTSqfbkZ
