During an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Dr. Anthony Fauci laughed off Sen. Ted Cruz’s suggestion that he should be prosecuted for his role in the Covid-19 pandemic.
Asked by host Margaret Brennan to comment on the Texas Republican’s threat, Fauci said: “I have to laugh at that.”
The top health expert then addressed Cruz directly: “I should be prosecuted? What happened on Jan. 6, Senator?” Fauci asked.
Brennan then asked Fauci if Cruz is trying to make him a “scapegoat to deflect from President Trump.”

“Of course,” Fauci replied. “You’d have to be asleep not to figure that one out.”
“I’m just going to do my job,” he added. “And I’m going to be saving lives and they’re going to be lying.”
