President Donald Trump attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again on Monday, days after a tense meeting at the White House. Trump was particularly upset by Zelensky’s recent comments suggesting that the end of the war in Ukraine was still a long way off.

“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump continued, saying, “It’s what I’ve been saying all along, this guy doesn’t want peace as long as he has America’s support. In a meeting with Zelensky, Europe made it clear they can’t handle the situation without the U.S. – not a great thing to admit when showing strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”

Zelensky had said on Sunday that the U.S. and Ukraine’s relationship will continue, despite the tensions at the White House. However, he also mentioned that a peace deal to end the war is “still very, very far away,” according to the Associated Press.

Following their meeting on Friday, Trump also accused Zelensky of not being “ready for peace,” calling him “disrespectful” and saying that Zelensky only has a chance of “coming out OK because of us.” Zelensky has since said he wouldn’t apologize for the meeting, and Trump told reporters that Zelensky “overplayed his hand.”

Meanwhile, Russia continues to face severe economic strain from the ongoing conflict, with the country struggling to maintain the financial resources needed to support the war effort. This has led to growing concerns about the long-term viability of Russia’s military campaign.
