An AI-generated video showing President Trump rubbing and kissing Elon Musk’s feet was shown on TV screens inside the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) building on Monday, seemingly mocking the bond between the two men.
The video, which was accompanied by the words “Long live the real king,” appeared to poke fun at Trump’s recent Truth Social post where he wrote, “Long Live the King!”
Musk, who leads Tesla and owns the social media platform X, has become a major ally of Trump. He’s even taken on significant influence over federal agencies, including overseeing the firing of thousands of government employees. Musk is also heading the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which advises the administration on ways to cut spending and staff.
Musk recently stirred controversy by posting on X that government employees should respond to a mass email listing five accomplishments from the previous week or risk being considered resigned. Several agencies told their workers not to respond.
The relationship between Trump and Musk has sparked tension, with some Democrats and critics suggesting that Musk has gained too much control, even hinting that he might be running the show.
In an interview earlier this month, the two men denied the media’s attempts to drive a wedge between them.
Meanwhile, the AI video quickly spread across social media, with users sharing it widely. Take a look:
