GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois slammed fellow Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) on Friday, calling her “trash” for a despicable attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), comparing her to a terrorist.
“Lauren Boebert is TRASH,” Kinzinger said simply in a tweet.
That prompted Boebert’s sole Republican challenger in next summer’s primary, Marina Zimmerman, to retweet the comment, adding: “Help me take out the trash.”
The tweet from Kinzinger came after Boebert recounted an appalling anti-Muslim story involving Omar as she spoke at a campaign event in Colorado.
Boebert told the audience that she had just stepped into an elevator with Omar at the U.S. Capitol recently when a concerned police officer rushed over before the doors closed.
“I look to my left and there she is, Ilhan Omar. I say, well, she doesn’t have a backpack, we should be fine,” Boebert claimed in a video shared online.
She also claimed she glanced at the Democratic lawmaker and said: “Oh, look, the jihad squad decided to show up for work today.”
But there’s a problem. The incident never happened, Omar said.
“Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up,” Omar tweeted. “Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.”
After being called out, Boebert tweeted an apology Friday to “anyone in the Muslim community I offended” and called the fury over her tale an “unnecessary distraction.”
However, people were still loving Kinzinger’s “trash” tweet Zimmerman’s comment.

you'd think she'd stay under the radar, considering she's paid very well for a job she's severely underqualified for 🤔

Does Congress have a code of ethics or standards for professional behavior? Her behavior was totally unprofessional. She would have been reprimanded in private industry.
