The MAGA civil war just got even uglier.
Tucker Carlson, once one of Donald Trump’s most influential media allies, didn’t just criticize the president this week, he humiliated him outright. And the reaction inside MAGA world has been exactly what you’d expect when a high-profile loyalty test goes badly: outrage, infighting, and calls for retaliation.
Appearing on the Jack Neel Podcast on Wednesday, Carlson dismissed Trump’s repeated threats toward Iran as little more than empty posturing.
His blunt message to the president?
“Shut up, b****.”
Carlson argued that truly powerful people don’t need to constantly announce how tough they are.
“Strong people don’t brag about how strong they are,” Carlson said. “They just punch you in the face and end the conversation.”
He then acted out what he said Trump’s approach looks like—chest puffed out, finger in someone’s face, constantly trying to prove how intimidating he is.
“Trump is very much, ‘What’d you say?'” Carlson said before delivering the punchline: “Shut up, b****. I don’t take you seriously.”
Almost immediately, conservative commentators and online MAGA influencers began erupting over Carlson’s remarks, with some demanding Carlson face consequences.
The anger isn’t just about tone, it’s about timing and influence. Carlson’s comments come as Trump continues to lean heavily on aggressive foreign policy rhetoric, particularly around Iran, which has already sparked divisions among his allies.
For years, Carlson was arguably the most influential voice in conservative media backing Trump’s political movement. Now he’s become one of Trump’s most persistent critics, especially over the president’s decision to launch military strikes against Iran.
Carlson says he warned Trump months before the conflict that another Middle East war would betray the very voters who helped return him to the White House.
Since then, he’s only become more outspoken. He’s accused Trump of putting foreign interests ahead of American ones, declared there is “no future of the MAGA movement” if this is where it’s is headed, and recently announced he’s effectively done supporting the Republican Party altogether.
