President Donald Trump went full throttle on Truth Social Monday, blasting Democrats in New Jersey and Virginia in a furious, all-caps rant that sounded more like a campaign panic than a pep talk.

“VIRGINIA AND NEW JERSEY, REMEMBER THIS: A VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN MEANS SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER ENERGY PRICES, A VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT, ESPECIALLY THESE TWO LOSERS WHO ARE RUNNING, MEANS A DOUBLING, TRIPLING, AND EVEN QUADRUPLING OF YOUR ENERGY COSTS,” Trump wrote.

He didn’t stop there. “IT WILL NOT BE SUSTAINABLE, AND YOU WILL RUE THE DAY THAT YOU VOTED TO DESTROY YOUR LIFE! FAILING TO VOTE TOMORROW IS THE SAME AS VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT,” he continued, in a post that looked more like an emergency broadcast than a campaign message.

The post dropped just hours before polls open in key states that could offer an early glimpse into voter sentiment heading toward the 2026 midterms. Both Virginia and New Jersey have become testing grounds for how much influence Trump still holds over Republican candidates—and whether his signature brand of outrage politics still moves the needle.

In New Jersey, Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli are neck and neck in a bruising governor’s race that’s split voters straight down the middle, according to local reports.

Meanwhile, Virginia’s statewide contests for Governor and Attorney General are shaping up to be another high-stakes showdown. Democrats Abigail Spanberger and Jay Jones are leading in recent polls, but turnout will likely decide everything.

Trump’s last-minute outburst underscores what’s at stake for him personally. While he’s not on the ballot, his political clout is.
