President Donald Trump was reportedly shocked when a private and fiery message meant only for Attorney General Pam Bondi ended up on his public Truth Social feed. Turns out he accidentally sent it to his 10.8 million followers instead of directly to her.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump believed he was sending a private message demanding that Bondi prosecute his longtime political enemies, including former FBI Director James Comey. Instead, the president’s angry note was blasted across social media for all to see.
On September 20, Trump posted:
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.’”
U.S. officials told The Journal Trump was “surprised to learn” that the message he intended to keep private had gone public. Bondi herself was reportedly so upset by the post that she contacted White House aides and the president directly.
Trump quickly followed up with a post clearly meant as a public endorsement: “Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States.”
Just five days after the original post, Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury. The charges against Comey include making false statements and obstructing a congressional proceeding. Comey pleaded not guilty.
Trump wasted no time commenting on the indictment.
“JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this Country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former Corrupt Head of the FBI,” he wrote.

During a fiery Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Bondi was asked about Trump’s “private” social media post. Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, pressed Bondi on whether Trump’s message was “a directive to the Justice Department.”
Bondi stood by Trump, saying, “Trump is the most transparent president in American history, and I don’t think he said anything that he hasn’t said for years.”
But the Truth Social slip-up wasn’t the only odd moment for Trump. At a White House roundtable with conservative influencers, Secretary of State Marco Rubio handed Trump a note instructing him to approve a Truth Social post announcing a Middle East deal. The note, captured by an Associated Press photographer, read, “We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.”
Trump told the assembled media, “OK, I was just given a note by the secretary of state saying, ‘we’re very close to a deal in the Middle East’ and they’re gonna need me pretty quickly.”

Adding to the circus, a White House official told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that Trump had his son-in-law Jared Kushner and U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff review the Truth Social post before it went live.
From accidentally airing private messages to taking notes on the fly, Trump’s communication style remains chaotic and unpredictable. Whether by mistake or design, this latest episode shows just how blurred the line between private conversations and public broadcasts has become in the Trump White House.
