President Donald Trump is threatening legal action against CNN after the network aired a report about an app that tracks ICE agents — and CNN isn’t backing down.

On Monday, CNN ran a segment on ICEBlock, an app that lets users track the movements of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. The app had more than 20,000 users at the time of the report, with many located in Los Angeles.

Just hours later, Trump’s former ICE director Tom Homan slammed CNN and called for a Justice Department investigation. “Disgusting,” Homan said of the segment. He accused CNN of “pushing” the app and putting law enforcement at risk.

The next day, Trump escalated the attack. While touring a new migrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” Trump appeared alongside Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and said they plan to prosecute CNN over the report.

CNN fired back in a public statement Tuesday afternoon, defending its coverage:

“This is an app that is publicly available to any iPhone user who wants to download it. There is nothing illegal about reporting the existence of this or any other app, nor does such reporting constitute promotion or other endorsement of the app by CNN.”
The network made clear it won’t be intimidated — and it’s standing by its journalism.
