At a heated NATO press conference, President Donald Trump took a shot at CNN and its reporting on recent U.S. strikes in Iran — and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins didn’t hold back.
The exchange started when Collins tried to ask Trump a question about the intelligence behind the strikes. Trump interrupted her immediately.
“Fake news CNN. Here we go,” he sneered. “Wait until you hear this question. You should really say how great our soldiers and our warriors are.”
Collins fired back without missing a beat: “I think everyone appreciates our soldiers and our warriors.”
Then she pressed on, asking Trump whether he based his claim that the sites were “obliterated” on Israeli intelligence.
Trump pointed to Iran’s own foreign ministry and said the damage was significant. He claimed that newer intelligence supported his original statement — even though early U.S. assessments suggested otherwise.
“Since then, we‘ve collected additional intelligence. We‘ve also spoken to people that have seen the site and the site. The site is obliterated, and we think everything nuclear is down there,” Trump said.
But Collins wasn’t the only reporter Trump went after. He lashed out at NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell too, accusing her of disrespecting the U.S. pilots behind the mission.
“You, and NBC—fake news, which is one of the worst—and CNN, are all bad,” Trump said. “They’re sick. There’s something wrong with them.”
He went on to claim the media was trying to harm the military: “By trying to go and get me, you’re hurting those people. They were devastated.”
Back on Truth Social later that night, Trump kept up the attacks.
“FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE FAILING NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE TEAMED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEMEAN ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY STRIKES IN HISTORY,” he wrote in all caps. “THE NUCLEAR SITES IN IRAN ARE COMPLETELY DESTROYED!”
Kaitlan Collins didn’t let Trump steamroll her. She pushed through the noise and held the line — right to his face.
