Bruce Springsteen is not backing down. The legendary rocker fired back at Donald Trump once again on Saturday night, delivering some of his most powerful words yet during a concert in Manchester, England.
“In my home America, the America I’ve written about that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, it is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,” Springsteen told the crowd.
“Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American spirit to rise with us, raise your voices and stand with us against authoritarianism and let freedom ring. This is ‘Land of Hope and Dreams.’”
The sharp rebuke came just one day after Trump lashed out at Springsteen on Truth Social, calling him a “dried out prune” and mocking his appearance.
“This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare,’” Trump wrote Friday.
“Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
Trump didn’t stop there. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK,” the president posted. He also attacked President Biden, calling him “a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President.”
It’s clear that Springsteen’s earlier comments during his UK tour struck a nerve with Trump. On Wednesday, he warned fans about the situation he sees unfolding back home.
“There’s some very weird, strange, and dangerous s— going on out there right now,” he said.
“In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.”
The clash between the rock icon and Trump is heating up fast — and Springsteen is not backing down.
