MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski looked shocked Monday morning as she listened to Donald Trump voters tear into the president’s economic plan—especially his new tariffs that could drive prices even higher.

On Morning Joe, conservative pollster Sarah Longwell shared real comments from Trump supporters who say they’re fed up with rising costs, even though Trump promised the opposite.

“It’s been awful,” one woman said in the clip. “Why I voted for Trump was for the prices to come down at the grocery store. Nothing’s come down.”

She didn’t hold back. “When it hurts now, it’s hard to recover for someone like me. So, it really hits me in the gut.”

Brzezinski reacted bluntly: “Wow. And these are Trump voters once again.”

Trump has been pushing aggressive tariffs this month, a move that economists warn could make everyday goods even more expensive. That’s hitting voters where it hurts most—in their wallets.

Longwell, who’s done hundreds of focus groups with conservative voters, said the same frustration keeps coming up.

“The number one thing that Donald Trump was hired to do by so many of these voters was lower prices,” she said. “It goes to sort of the central offering of Donald Trump, which is that he is a businessman… and that he will do good things for the economy.”

But now, even his own base is starting to doubt that.

“What is interesting is, when you see a lot of this polling come out showing that Trump’s overall approval rating is actually higher than his approval rating on the economy,” Longwell noted, “voters are starting to doubt that he is going to do the good things for the economy that he promised.”

She said the message from voters is loud and clear: prices are out of control, and they’re not seeing help from Trump.

“We just listened to people talk over and over again about how they were struggling with grocery prices and with housing prices and with inflation,” Longwell said. “And, so, right now, what you’re seeing is voters really starting to say, ‘Is he going to focus on this at all? Is he going to do something about this?’”
