Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised Vice President Kamala Harris for “clearly” winning the debate against former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, even though he had endorsed Trump just weeks earlier.
In an appearance on Fox News Wednesday, Kennedy lauded Harris for her polished performance, stating, “Vice President Harris clearly won the debate in terms of her delivery, her polish, her organization, and her preparation.” Despite this, he contended that Trump had the stronger argument on substance but failed to convey it effectively.
“Vice President Harris clearly won the debate in terms of her delivery, her polish, her organization and her preparation. I think on substance, President Trump wins in terms of his governance, but he didn’t tell that story,” RFK Jr. said.
Kennedy’s support for Trump came after he exited the presidential race in late August, yet he expressed disappointment with Trump’s debate performance. “He got distracted,” Kennedy said. “I think he really had an airtight argument for his presidency, but he was not able to make that case to the American public.”
Kennedy also took issue with the debate moderators, criticizing them for not fact-checking Harris, while they interjected to fact-check Trump four times.
In addition to his political commentary, Kennedy is currently entangled in a federal investigation related to a controversial incident involving his daughter’s claim about him cutting off a whale’s head. The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund has called for felony charges over the incident.
