In a quintessential Florida move, a woman was nabbed by deputies after she dialed 911 on herself while attempting to jack a car from a dealership, all in the name of making it “legal.”
Christy Turman, a 37-year-old Florida native, decided to ring up the Lee County Sheriff’s Office mid-carjacking because, well, she felt the need to inform the authorities of her misdeed.
“Because I’m trying to steal a car that’s not legally mine,” Turman said during the 911 call. “So, y’all better come make a report. I’m reporting this.”
Shortly after the bizarre call, deputies rolled up to the dealership, catching Turman red-handed as she made her way out of the stolen Toyota Corolla.
In a twist fitting of the Sunshine State’s flair for the unusual, Turman claimed she was in the midst of some sort of training in a game of Black Ops that apparently involved car theft. But instead of staying incognito, she decided to bring law enforcement into the loop to legitimize her carjacking antics.
Unsurprisingly, Turman was promptly arrested on charges of trespassing, adding another quirky tale to the annals of Florida crime lore.
