Donald Trump’s experience with testing positive for COVID-19 has made his perception about the virus worse than it was before. Trump has been recently pushing the idea that the virus is less deadly than the seasonal flu.
On Tuesday, Facebook decided to remove Trump’s remarks from their page.
Trump was fortunate enough to obtain the best healthcare help available after contracting COVID-19, but the vast majority of Americans do not have that luxury.
“We remove incorrect information about the severity of Covid-19, and have now removed this post,” Facebook said in reply to an AFP inquiry.
Facebook isn’t the only social media company to bring notice to Trump’s remarks.
Twitter added a notice to the tweeted version of the Trump post , saying the message was left up due to public interest but that it violated rules about spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to Covid-19.
Twitter also added a link to reliable Covid-19 information.
Trump has been downplaying the virus for months and continues to do so. Over 210,000 Americans have lost their lives to the virus in just six months.
