Since taking office for his second term, taxpayers have spent over $26 million so that President Donald Trump can play golf at one of his own courses.
Trump arrived at his golf course in West Palm Beach on Saturday morning. The course is near the county jail and just across the Intracoastal Waterway from Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach club.
This marks his 14th day at that course and 18th day at one of his properties since his second term began on January 20. This means he has spent more than a quarter of his 69 days in office so far playing golf.
According to a HuffPost report, based on a Government Accountability Office study, the total cost for Trump’s golf trips during his second term is $26,127,531. This figure includes expenses for moving his motorcade and security teams, as well as the high cost of flying Air Force One.
The $26 million figure comes from 2017 costs, which are likely higher now due to inflation.
During his first term, Trump spent $151.5 million in taxpayer money on golf, with 293 days spent at one of his courses over four years.
